OUR TEACHERS
FOUNDER
CONTRAMESTRE IGOR
Growing up in Rio de Janeiro's Zona Norte, in the same neighborhood as many of his Malungos colleagues, Igor started training seriously as a teenager under Mestre Pedigree at grupo Senzala, student of Mestre Peixinho.
He began teaching in Amsterdam in 2006, first under the Senzala name. In 2009, he became one of the founders of Capoeira Malungos, as the group took on the name it carries today.
His Physical Education background shows in how he teaches: real structure, clear progressions, movements broken down and rebuilt step by step, so beginners and advanced students can train in the same room and both actually understand what they're doing.
As professional Brasilian vocalist and percussionist, music is central to his classes, he loves passing on his knowledge and teaching about this rich Afro-Brazilian heritage. That combination is what makes him a sought-after teacher, regularly invited across Europe to teach workshops.
PROFESSOR MARIO
Mario has been practicing capoeira for about 20 years. He gives Capoeira lessons for adults and kids since 2016. He is known for his playful style. In his classes, he likes to focus on body control and combining kicks with acrobatics.
He teaches on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
PROFESSORA LUA
I stumbled randomly into a capoeira class in 2007 and it immediately captivated my heart. Capoeira has been my biggest passion since then and I feel grateful to share my passion to expand the absolute joy capoeira has brought to my life. As yoga and pilates teacher, I'm happy to share this knowledge in my teaching.
