Capoeira classes for adults

The practice of Capoeira offers a unique combination of martial art, dance and music, bringing deep benefits to the physical, mental and social health of adults of all ages. Among the main gains are the expressive improvement of physical fitness, increased flexibility and motor coordination, the relief of stress and anxiety, and the strengthening of self-confidence and social skills.

Our practice is for all levels, beginner to advanced. We welcome all ages and backgrounds.

Our group brings together a diverse group of people, training side by side from beginner to advanced. Many students say a real highlight is our yearly Capoeira Festival, where we train and celebrate together with Malungos visiting from our other groups across Europe.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience to join?
No. Classes are built for complete beginners through advanced students training side by side.

Is there an age limit for adults?
No. Students train across a wide range of ages, all welcome.

How often can I train?
Classes run four times a week across three neighborhoods, so most students train 1–3 times a week depending on their package.

Is capoeira a good workout?
Yes. It builds strength, flexibility, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness, while also teaching music and self-defense.

What's the community like?
International, multigenerational, and genuinely welcoming, students come from many backgrounds and cultures, training under the same respect.

What should I wear
For the first class comfortable sport clothes. Shoes are a personal preference. After you join Malungos you wear Capoeira pants (Abada) with your cord which indicates your level.

Are the classes in Dutch
All our teachers speak Dutch, English and Portuguese. Our group is very diverse and we welcome all backgrounds and cultures

What are the cords?
After your first Batizado you receive a white cord, you are now a Capoeirista for life! Malungos has cords from white, yellow, orange, grey, blue, green, purple, brown to red. They indicate your level and skill.

What is the Capoeira Festival all about?
This is our yearly Batizado and Troca de Corda international Capoeira meeting, where we train & celebrate Brazilian culture for 4 days straight. Teachers and students from groups around Europe will join us to make this event extra special.

XVII Capoeira Festival

Beginners will receive their first belt and advanced students when ready change the color of their belts. There are all day long workshops, dinners and parties with Brazilian live music.
